Josh Allen's Record Against Every NFL Team

Josh Allen took a massive leap between his second and third seasons to become one of the game’s brightest stars. In the last two years, he’s thrown for 35+ touchdowns, 4,400+ yards, and has put up completion rates well above 60%.

Aside from his rookie year, the Buffalo Bills have won at least 10 games in each campaign Allen has been under center, paving the way for the Wyoming product to have some impressive records against his NFL foes. His play has even garnered some high praise from one of the best defenders in league history.

2021 Rookie QB Rankings: Hair we go again

It’s Week 12 of the NFL season, and rookie quarterbacks are always front and center, with some living up to the hype and others not as much. With that, let’s look at how the 2021 rookie class fared in Week 12. 6. Trey Lance source: Getty Images The 49ers improved to 6-5 after their 34-26 victory over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 12. So, any hope of Trey Lance taking over for Jimmy Garoppolo at this point has all but vanished into thin air. The Niners have climbed their way into contention for the postseason and currently sit in sixth place in the NFC. If they continue to win, we’ll continue to see Lance on the sideline, and that’s about it. 5. Davis Mills source: Getty Images I’m still not sure why the Texans won’t just throw Mills back into the mix and let him play out t…

After much waiting Euro 2020 opener shows football’s restorative powers

Delayed gratification is supposed to be good for the soul but, particularly in a pandemic, it is easy to become tired of waiting.

Yet if no one can yet be quite sure whether staging Euro 2020 in 2021, one year and one day after its original, scheduled start date, will prove quite as restorative as Uefa hopes, this curtain-raiser inside Rome’s Stadio Olimpico served as a welcome reminder of football’s transformative powers.

After so many months of so much human loss, Italy and Turkey emphasised that even a highly unconventional tournament spread across 11 countries and operating in accordance with sometimes stiflingly strict Covid protocols has retained its traditional power to enchant.

For every Chelsea financial fiasco there’s been a success story to match

WE MAKE THE BIG CALLS SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO

Chelsea have always spent big. They’ve been spendthrifts since time immemorial. Full marks for ambition, though you never quite know how their sprees are going to work out. In the 1930s and 1940s, for example, they broke the bank for stars such as Hughie Gallacher and Tommy Lawton, only for the former to spend most of his time being cashiered through saloon doors along the Kings Rahd, and the latter to take about five minutes to decide he’d rather play for third-tier Notts County instead. Or how about the ££££££s spaffed in the 1970s on the luxurious state-of-the-art East Stand, a behemoth that nearly bankrupted the club? Or the cash Ken Ba…

Ryan Lowe leaves Preston after just one game of new Championship season

The first managerial casualty of the football season has come at Preston, with Ryan Lowe leaving by mutual consent on Monday morning.

The surprise announcement after only one game of the campaign followed the team’s abject display on Friday night, when Preston were beaten 2-0 at home by Sheffield United. His assistant Mike Marsh will take temporary charge, along with Peter Murphy and Ched Evans.

Lowe’s relationship with the Lilywhites’ fanbase had become severely strained at times last season and he was booed off the pitch by a section of the home crowd after the latest setback. He looked to have rescued the position towards the en…

So you traded the No. 1 pick — now what, Chicago?

The Chicago Bears failed in the most ideal way possible last season. They finished with the worst record in the NFL, and still found a way to unleash breathtaking athleticism from Justin Fields. The quarterback that they traded their first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft for took a leap during his first year in offensive coordinator Luke Getsy’s offense. As a whole, however, having the worst record in the league means that the Bears need an infusion of talent. Chicago traded its No. 1 pick to the Carolina Panthers — who were set to pick ninth — along with a 2023 second-rounder, and 2024 first-rounder, and also acquired D.J. Moore to be its top wide receiver. The Bears also signed Tremaine Edmunds and T.J. Edwards in free agency to fortify their linebacking corps after tradin…

Toronto's Mark Fraser Takes Puck To The Face

With about 12 minutes remaining in the third period of Game 4 against the Bruins, Toronto defenseman Mark Fraser was hit directly in the head with a puck. Fraser does not wear a visor, so there was nothing between his face and the puck once Bruins winger Milan Lucic fired it on goal. Fraser left a pool of blood on the ice and was taken out of the game. Fraser was reportedly seen leaving the arena with his head wrapped, undoubtedly headed to the hospital for further evaluation. It sounds like he should be OK, in which case he should consider himself lucky. It could have been a lot worse. …

The Dodgers Might Open The 2014 Season In Australia

Australia, while not on the level of Japan, does love it some baseball. The history of the sport there dates back to the 1850s, and the domestic Australian Baseball League is profitable for the first time ever—thanks in part to funding from MLB. The ABL is increasingly becoming a legitimate winter league for American minor leaguers, and there are currently nine Australian players in MLB, an all-time high. So it's only logical that MLB, seeking another international foothold in its global marketing scheme, would look Down Under. In 1999, the Rockies and Padres opened the season in Monterrey, Mexico. Starting in 2000, and happening semi-regularly since, a pair of teams have started the year in Japan. And, if talks between MLB and Australian officials prove fruitful, the Dodgers and…

Deadspin SHOTY Tournament: Carl Monday Vs. Stephen A. Smith

All right: Time for the next step in the Elite Eight. This thing is gonna fly by now, by the way; the final two Elite Eight matchups will be next week, and then it's Final Four time, and then, jeez, then this whole virtual construction is completed. To remind you, here's the bracket (Berman's got a considerable lead over Leinart, but there's still time to vote.) The lone break of seed in the first round involved Stephen A. Smith taking down Ozzie Guillen, a matchup that probably had the seeds reversed anyway. But he's got an awfully daunting foe this time: The infamous Carl Monday, who is everywhere, watching everything, keeping the streets safe. But you know that by now. The matchup breakdown: No. 2 Seed: Carl Monday

The Biggest Disappointments in College Football So Far

data-mm-id=”_cjpve9039″>We can't universally agree on much a a society, but college football upsets would probably be fairly close to unanimity. It's likely impossible, however, as upsets always require victims. These five from the Power Five are part of that latter group, as this 2019 season hasn't gone their way….ACC: SyracusePigskin antics will probably never overshadow the countdown to tipoff at the Carrier Dome, but last season's effort surely came close. They won 10 games for the first time since 2001, which netted head coach Dino Babers a contract extension. Duplicating that feat, however, is going to be monumental. The Orange are 0-2 in conference play thus far (including a 41-6 defeat to top-ranked Clemson), the lone winless team in the ACC's Atlant…
